Our Mission Statement

Kids of the Kingdom Preschool in partnership with Lord of Life Lutheran Church
will serve the families of KOK in the same manner Christ has loved and served all people.

"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Kids of the Kingdom began in the fall of 1994, as an outreach educational ministry of Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

We are licensed by the state of Texas, and a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association.
We are thankful for the opportunity to minister here and to share the good news that "Jesus loves us" with our young children.

ELEA CERTIFICATION

Kids of the Kingdom Preschool is pleased to have completed the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA) certification process. This process included a detailed self study done by KOK as well as a visit by a team representing the ELEA National Board of Directors. Kids of the Kingdom was awarded a full five year certification.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Believing that the first five years of a child’s life are crucial to his/her development, we realize that a positive preschool sets the tone for years to come. We will provide a wholesome, nurturing environment that will meet the needs of each child’s spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth. Our Christian ministry will plant the gospel in the hearts and minds of the children at KOK, so that they might know the love God has for them in Christ Jesus. To accomplish this goal we have weekly chapel times with the Pastors, Christian Ed Director or Director of Children’s Ministries of Lord of Life, as well as Bible lessons and daily prayers. We are dedicated to promoting the development of the whole child, as we encourage positive self-esteem and individuality, while fostering respect for others and the world around us.



OUR STAFF

Our teachers are hired for their love of children as well as their experience and training in early childhood education. All of our staff keep up to date on current ideas and teaching techniques by attending at least 18 hours of training sessions each year. Every staff member is certified in CPR and First Aid Training.

OUR PROGRAM

Kids of the Kingdom preschool will provide opportunities for your child to explore, wonder, question, create and play while engaging in age appropriate learning activities.
Kids of the Kingdom utilizes a theme/literature based curriculum that is reinforced in various learning centers. These centers include art, blocks, manipulatives, housekeeping, reading, writing and science.
Children at Kids of the Kingdom are placed into classes based on their age as of September 1st.


Our Enrichment
Kids of the Kingdom offers an exciting music program, a special motor/movement program, weekly Spanish lessons and weekly chapel times. We also have special seasonal celebrations throughout the year.

OUR CLASSROOMS

TODDLER'S & TWO'S:
We provide comforting and safe routines, small class sizes and loving teachers in an effort to help these little ones adjust to being part of a group, gain independence and learn new skills. Developmentally appropriate activities provide opportunities for active exploration through play.

Class Ratio:
Toddlers: 4 children to 1 teacher
Twos: 10 children to 2 teachers

THREE'S & FOURS:
Our enriching classrooms are full of activities designed to meet our goals of providing a stimulating environment for these active learners. We encourage development in all of the important areas through a variety of hands on learning experiences. We emphasize cooperative play and working together. We integrate language, pre-reading, and writing skills through literature. We provide many opportunities to incorporate pre-math skills into their daily routines through hands-on situations that are both meaningful and fun.

Class Ratio:
Threes: 12 children to 2 teachers
Fours: 14-15 children to 2 teachers



PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Kids of the Kingdom Preschool has an open door policy and encourages parents to become actively involved in their child’s preschool experience. Through this involvement we will work together to encourage the educational and social development of your preschooler.
We invite and welcome our parents to participate in the many opportunities we have available for them, including social get-togethers, informational meetings and volunteer activities.

Registration Fee $75
Due at registration/non-refundable

Supply Fees:
1 day class (M or W)........................ $ 80/year
2 day class (T/W or T/Th)............ $ 100/year
3 day class (T/W/Th)..................... $ 120/year


TUITION
The initial payment is due on July 1st (this serves as a reservation fee) and each subsequent payment is due the first day of each month, September through April. We offer a $5 sibling discount.

SCHOLARSHIPS
KOK offers scholarships on an “as needed” basis. Please contact the Director for more information.

News from the Director

March 2007

“Let us love one another because love comes from God.” 1 John 4:7

February was a great month at Kids of the Kingdom. We celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special “Love Our Pets” Chapel time. “My Service Dog Group” came in and shared with our preschool friends what it takes to be a service dog and why some people need the help of these special dogs. The children watched as an adult service dog and a puppy in training demonstrated their talents for helping others. It was great for our preschool friends to experience and also to have a better understanding of those with disabilities.

The last week of February was rodeo week! The children were dressed in western clothes, made bandanas, had wagon rides on the playground and ate hot dogs or pigs in a blanket in the classroom! YEE HAW!

Now we are moving into March and the special Easter holiday season. We will celebrate with our annual Spring Fling where the children will experience through crafts, science, story time and chapel time the wonderful news that Christ is risen. What a special lesson we get to share with our preschool friends.

We will be off for Spring Break the week of the 17th! After that it will be just a few short weeks until summer. The year has gone by very quickly. Thank you Lord of Life for supporting this outreach ministry and allowing us to share the love of Jesus with our preschool friends and their families.
