About Don and Barbara Gebert
After graduating from Wharton School of Business, Don, with Barbara's support, changed the focus of their lives to one of Christian service. It began when Don entered the Mt. Airy Lutheran Seminary. Upon graduation he became pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sayre, Pennsylvania
Their lives of service took on a more global perspective when they were commissioned as missionaries. Don and Barbara lived for four years in British Guyana where they helped to establish many local congregations.
Upon return to the U.S., Don and Barbara moved to Philadelphia. Don became pastor to an inner-city church, and later became deeply involved in social outreach when he became Associate Director of the Philadelphia Foundation, a philanthropic trust.
In 1974, Don and Barbara relocated to a newly developing community known as The Woodlands. In association with the Woodlands Corporation, Don became the founder and first Director of Interfaith. This new organization brought together the religious communities of The Woodlands and developed the social ministry focus and spirit of The Woodlands.
While still residing in The Woodlands Don served as assistant to two Lutheran Bishops and as interim pastor of several congregations.
During his time at Lord of Life, Don served as Director of Evangelism, Administration and Stewardship with Barbara always at his side.
Two Lives... truly dedicated to mission and outreach.
