LOL focuses on Lutheran Helping Hands year round but especially in March and April. This program is totally run by volunteers who give many hours and hard work because they "Can't 'not' do it".

Why does this mission exist? This mission provides comfort...a homelike atmosphere when people most need a "home" and are forced to be away from it. It is for people being treated for cancer and are far from home. It is also much less expensive than a utilitarian hotel room would be. Please join us in celebrating and supporting this mission.

Who Are We? A group from many Lutheran Churches in the greater Houston area who are committed to finding the resources needed to meet the needs of Lutheran patients, primarily at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The Apartment Ministry operates solely on donations. This includes donations of time talents, material goods, and money. Gift baskets collected for Lutheran Helping Hands Apartment Ministry Lutheran Helping Hands strives to provide a home like atmosphere at affordable prices for the patients and their families when they must be in treatment for extended periods. Lutheran Helping Hands is a part of the Church Apartment Ministry serving the Texas Medical enter, primarily M.D. Anderson Hospital and is a nonprofit agency incorporated in July 1992. L.H.H. leases unfurnished apartments, then furnishes and subleases apartments near the Texas Medical Center. These apartments are always rented and in demand. About the apartments: free shuttle service to and from Medical Center area five days a week. fully furnished, including linens, dishes, small appliances, TV, telephone 24 hour security Sometimes the needs involve TIME. Sometimes the needs involve TALENTS. Sometimes the needs involve MONEY. All are desperately needed. Won't you please help? Picture this Scenario, You have been diagnosed with cancer, or another dreaded disease, and are sent to another city for treatment. You are alone - except for the medical team, of course. But what about the practical needs . . . ? Care of family, pets, house? Who will pay the bills? Will the insurance pay? or A patient and family is from a town of 300+ population, far away from Houston. Your loved one has been diagnosed and you accompany him to the Medical Center for treatment. You know no one. You are totally unfamiliar with the area. You are afraid -- of the diagnosis, the treatment, the huge city, and you are basically alone! or You are sick of hospital food and Would like to cat in a real restaurant . . . You would like to attend a church service ... You wish you knew tile best place to go shopping and had a way to get there ... It would be nice just to have someone to talk to ... Lutheran Helping Hands tries to fill some of those needs. What do we do??
