The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans 16th Annual Tomorrow’s Child Golf Tournament to benefit Krause Children’s Center will be June 20 at the Weston Lakes Country Club in Fulshear. Last year, the event raised more than $60,000 to help the abused and neglected children served at the Krause Center. A junior golf benefit will be held on June 21 for teenagers eager to help the kids at Krause. It will be the first time a teen-driven golf benefit is held for the center. The event is open to teens and their families and is a great opportunity to spend some special time with dads to celebrate Father’s Day. Thanks to a generous donation from Bill and Nancy Benfer, the boys at Krause Children’s Center in Katy are working with the American Robotics Academy to design, build and test miniature robots each week. The activity demonstrates the principles of simple and motorized machinery as the boys, working in teams, build robots to transport items from one place to another. The boys love the project and are looking forward to next semester when they will be learning about building microchips. With the growing number of children in Texas who need a safe and loving home, there is a desperate need for foster families. LSS is recruiting and training more Beaumont-area and Houston-area foster families to take care of children who have been removed from abusive and neglectful environments. LSS is hosting an information session at 6:30 p.m. on June 2 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2950 Major Drive, in Beaumont.
